Report: Putin urges to press on with energy projects to stem deficit

Бензоколонка 01NOVO-OGARYOVO, Moscow Region, Apr 29 (PRIME) -- Large energy infrastructure projects must continue to ensure consistent fuel supply to the Russian market, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting on the energy sector issues on Wednesday, broadcast by channel Rossiya 24.

"We shall by no means allow fuel deficit on the domestic market, restrictions of energy supply to the companies, cities," Putin said.

The Russian and the global energy sectors were pummeled by the pandemic, Putin said. "These problems are of a systemic nature and exceed the national borders by far," Putin said. But he said that the Russian energy sector has always been good at meeting challenges.

The president said that long-term stability of the industry in all production segments is the priority. Security of cooperation ties in the fuel and energy sector must remain, he added.

Russia will continue effective cooperation with foreign partners, Putin said. "We will build effective cooperation with our foreign partners, achieve agreements to balance the energy market, search for solutions that will allow te companies to fulfill long-term plans, invest in the development and create new jobs," Putin said.
